Angry Sandy gas

When your carb isn't working right... you drain the bowl into a glass jar and find a bunch of crap in it. You start to wonder...

So you drain the tank... pull the tank off....

And after its drained... you find... this very very fine silica type sand...

I ***** you not!!

so I pull and clean the fuel line, gas tank, carb bowl, and petcock....

And now I have a good pic of what a petcock looks like...

Damn, where do you get your gas? Not from your work I hope.
Are you running a fuel filter? Might want to, to keep that crap out of the carb.

Good thing it snowed out then huh? Give you some time to clean it up and think about what you have done.
And then find the dirty [email protected]@rd that put sand in your tank!

no really that sucks the bottom of a llama scrotum. Were did you get that gas? are you sure that it isn't metal fine shavings or have you pissed someone off and that put sandblasting sand in your gas tank cause that is what it looks like. That stuff will eat you cylinders alive.

Not sure where it came from. Had to have come from some ****ty gas station. I think I know where and won't be going there again.

Fuel filter... nope.. .can't! There isn't a fuel filter out that can flow fast enough for the gas demand of the carb and motor. Believe me some of tried.

Remember, no pump or vacuum. Gravity fed to the carb with a bowl float vlv. Nothing fancy....

The problem is that my accelerator pump needle keeps getting clogged.

I don't know what the GPH is... I just know many have tried even the hi-flow ones made for big inch v-twins and they don't work. They starve the motor. Again... there is no fuel pump or even a vacuum power like on most carbed Jap bikes.

I'm not sure where it came from. But it wasn't there and then it was. My bike hasn't left my sight other than in my garage and the Big Dog dealership. I've only put a few hundred miles on it sense this year.

Could it be benign? Maybe it happened while the tank was in a box or sitting on the shelf? Fine sand like that blows around and into everything.

one of the best revenge tactics I've seen is a guy basicly stole a motor from a friend... he had the guy put the motor in and promised he'd pay him... well the guy who installed the motor was civilian... the other guy was military... and had orders... the day before he was due to drive out... the civilian poured Silica sand in his motor... now silica sand is what they use to sand blast...

so basicly the Silica will sandblast the inside of his motor... until the piston housings are too big and he'll loose all compression... and destroy the motor... yeah... to bad he'll never see the guys face when he realizes what happened
I found this post last month from Ebbs.... Isay we look into his "friend's" shady actions..............just messin Ebbs..... but he has been talking about a long road trip... Alaska to Michigan is a hike...........

If you think you know where the suspect station is, I'd test them... Go there and fill up a 5 gallon can then strain pour it into another can using cheese cloth to filter... See what you find... It will answer the, "have I pissed anyone off" question...
