Maybe the carbs need to be cleaned?

Bad gas?

Clogged fuel filter?

Fouled plugs?

I would take off the tank... replace the fuel filter, replace the plugs, drain the gas and check the carb operation when you're under there.

Where at in Michigan are you?

Completely drain your fuel system. Check for clogs.

Check your vacuum lines. They may have a very small leak.

Kinda sounds like what was happening to my bike before the clutch went out. I dunno, my RPM's were jumping then lagging, as if the bike was getting no throttle. I rode the bike 50 more miles to the point where it got throttle up to 8k rpms in 3rd gear and wouldn't go over 70 mph. Then it stopped going over 17 mph. Just something to look at, I dunno though. It sounds like a fuel problem but so did mine at first. Maybe it's because of the RPM jump, and seemingly loss of fuel flow to the engine. I guess you'll find out if you keep riding it and the clutch stops working.

If the sea foam doesn't fix it your clutch is shot. Mine did it standing still and in all 6 gears. Put the bike in gear, turn it off and try pushing it forward after its warmed up. If it moves you have the same problem I did.

Maybe it's not completely shot yet. Maybe it's not even the clutch, but the problem sounds the same as mine.
