Angry Buzzing sound bike will not start

I went to go for a ride tday and the bike started up just fine twice. When I went to start it up again it would not start and there is a buzzing sound by the battery. Is this the starter or something else?

like a clicking sound? probably the battery, get a multimeter and check it to see if its charged. (should be 12.5 V or something). sounds like your battery is weak.

Yea when I push the starter it just buzzes. Could be a really really fast clicking sound. I will check the battery, thanks. I only started it maybe 2 dozen times since last season. If the battery is low and I recharge it will it hold the charge?

It should hold the charge, and if it doesn't then go buy a new one. It's always good to jump bike batteries with other bikes. Those chargers are sometimes to powerful for smaller batteries and will actually damage them. If you smell something wierd when it's charging you probably need a new battery. And the buzzing is definitely the battery.

I had this happen sporadically on my old bike. After long rides the battery terminal screw would come loose enough so that it didn't make a good connection with the cable to the starter relay and would do the same thing, it would click, click, click, or would buzz. Once everything was tightened up it was fine. I would check the battery cables for a loose connection.

The buzz is probably the starter relay from a weak battery; loose connection at the battery, starter, or relay; or a corroded battrey or started terminal.

I check all the connections and cleaned them so they are good. I have a charger specifically for bikes so I will try that and see if it works. Thanks for the help guys I appreciate it. If it does not work I will be back for more help.

A few things...

One if you jump start a bike from a car... make sure the car is OFF. Don't jump start bikes off running cars! NOT GOOD!

Second, only charge your bike battery with nothing more than 2 amps. They are just too small to handle anything more.

Thanks gas man. I haven't had a chance to do anything, girlfriends mom passed. But will remember the tips. I never use a car to jump it anyway. Don't think that would help anyway cause it needs a full charge. When it died the first time i was riding for a few hours but we kept stopping and going all day. Thats why i didn't think it was the battery.

Yeah... alot of these jap bikes don't charge very well. I use to have to always run a battery tender on my 9R. Check the battery voltage bike off and then again with bike running as stated above.

here's a cheap way to check if the charging system is working. if it won't start, then bump start it (on first gear with clutch in, push the bike then jump on it. let clutch go). while facing a wall at idle, rev the engine and see if the headlights get brighter. if it doesn't, then your charging system needs service. if it does get brighter, then you need to replace your battery.

Even with a brand new battery, my light will still get brighter when i rev it up.
Never had a prob with it not charging, not starting my bike.

No, no problem at all.
Just on a previous post, someone said to check your charging system by driving up to a wall, reving the engine. If the light got brighter, your battery is shot. If it stayed even, charging system has probs.
So i thought I'd mention that my light gets brighter when i rev it, even tho I have a new battery, so I know it's good.
Ebbs seemed to agree with me too.
