Mechanical help 2002 Bandit

Anyone in the Columbia Sc area know about carbs and stuff?

I've got an '02 bandit 600 that sat for about 1 1/2 years (long sad story) and I fired it up the other day after charging the battery; the bike seems like it's running on only 3 cylinders at idle, had hesitation up to 6,000 rpm when it would smooth out... it seems to run fine above 6,000 rpm, so I'm suspecting gunk in the carbs.

I'd rather not rebuild the carbs myself since I don't have the balancing tool needed to make them happy.

Anyone willing to help, or suggest a good shop in my area? I'd like my bike to run well when it's done... thanks

Completly drain your fuel system. Run carb cleaner through it. Put fresh gas in it. Put new spark plugs in it and check your air filter, replace if needed.

If that doesnt fix it and you are not mechanically inclined I suggesnt you take it to a shop.

Remember an engine only needs 3 things to run, air, fuel and a spark. If you have all 3 you should be good to go.

Oh man, I just filled the tank the other day...

It could probably use new plugs... It's not that I'm not mechanically inclined, I just don't want to do it myself... take off the tank, air box, and whatever else needs to come off...

remove the carbs. remove the bottom float bowls. spray the insides with carb cleaning. then reassemble.

if the problem persists, then more diagnostics is needed. plugs/wire/vacuum/carb syncing/ignition/etc...
