Hella H4 bulbs (90/130 watt)

How is the factory wiring on these bikes, is it strong enough to run 90/130 watt hella H4's w/out adding a harness, or should I just add a relay harness just in case.

the stock wattage should be about 55/65 iirc.

i'm impressed with the lighting on my bike, it lights up the road better than most 1990's/early 2000's cars.

Put in a relay. You'll probably get brighter light with a relay and thick wire to the battery. You don't want burnt wiring on a bike.

well, I'm running a 90/100W on my 500, no need for a relay but its bright as shiot so no worries about it being a dim light. on an F3, I'm sure a brighter bulb will result in HID bulb level lighting. but for a 130W bulb, I'd put in a relay just to be safe.

I would be very careful with putting in high wattage bulbs. I had the Streetglow XS or whatever they were called in my old car and the heat melted the harness/clip. May be fine on a bike but I just wanted to throw it out that I have personally had problems with them on a toyota celica.

If you are looking for a decently cheap way to get TONS of light PM me and ill let you know about the HID kit I got for my RR website. I got 2 bulbs, 2 ballasts, plug n play for 138 shipped. My healights are angled so when I turn the high beam on I didnt need to true "high beam" to put out the extra light. I think if you need the 2 bulb with high beam its around 188. single bulb stuff is even cheaper.

If you want to know how bright they are just ask anyone who was on the night run at the Deals Gap rally, they saw them. If I ever get my videos transferred we have some night video just following me and my lights.

I would not do that!! One for the wiring and two for the headlight housing in general. If it goes wrong it will go VERY wrong. You could burn up all kinds of things.

I would get a set of PIAA GTX bulbs. I have it in my chopper and its the best bulb I have used. Stock wattage but draw with a high "effective" wattage plus the nice HID color.

i've just been exceptionally happy with those same hella H4 in my glass Euro true "e-code" imported housings on my jeep, with a Painless wiring harness. the setup lights up the road like HID, but without the bluish color. the high beams are !

but the F3 does have a plastic housing, and probably 18 guage wiring barely big enough for the stock stuff. I'll have to try that bulb you speak of Gas Man.
