strange vibration

i have a 98 R1 and i am having some issues with the front. the front vibrates a lot, i originally thought it was the front tire going bad but i replaced it and it didn't solve the problem. does anyone have a suggestions on what i could do. if you need any information on the suspension settings ill have to check but i think they are set according to the chart on sportriders.com.

First,

Second, checking the suspension is the right place to start. however, I doubt unless somebody is F'inwith the bike that the suspension settings would just change! However, what can change is some internal of the front forks. Maybe a blown seal or broken spring? But I guess it depends on the type of "vibe" your expierencing.

But as I'm thinking of it... my best bet would lay in the front tripples. Make sure the center neck bolt is tight. They will come loose and give off bad vibe problems in the front end.

If not...

When you had the front end up and wheel off. Did you check the front wheel bearings?

mafia, you should post up an introduction thread in the new members section so you can get a proper welcome. don't forget to give some details about you and your bike!

the bolt was loose, i talked to the guy i got it from and he said he had removed it at one time to replace fork seals and the suspension settings were off so i set them back to stock setting and it seemed to fix it.

The bolt in the center on the neck?

That shouldn't be loose if you (or him) were adjusting the suspension...

The most common way for that to loosen, especially on a liter bike, is from wheelies!
