I have an oil level Question

When checking your oil your supposed to do it with the motor off right.... Because with my plug situation I threw on of those rubber expanding deals in just as a bandaid so i could get it to the mechanic and at every light I would dismount and check the levels but I was doing it with the bike running... I dismounted once and didnt see any oil in the glass and panniced and killed the bike and pulled it over... didnt look like any leaked out no drippys or nothing so I looked at it with it not running and added a 1/2 of a quart and it was sufficiently topped off... So when your bike is running and you look in the glass will it give a false level due to the oil pump putting oil else where.

, it sounds like you have a glass meter, but if you have a dipstick, turn the bike off, set it upright, pull out the dipstick and clean it, put it back in, pull it out, and take the reading.

that was dirty sounding...

Take note, however, that most manufactures say you read the screw in style dipsticks without screwing the dipstick back in.
