Got my Pitbull stand, only one problem...

The UPS man/woman left this at my door today, and its AWESOME! Sturdy as hell...however, from my last lowside, the spool on the right bent the mount on the swingarm.

I tried to bend it back but it started tearing the metal at the weld so I stopped.

It seems to be strong enough to support the bike on the stand, but has this happened to anyone else? I've never heard of it before

Find somebody who can TIG weld. Shouldn't take long to cut off the old hole and weld a nut in its place.

The only thing is that after you weld there the finish will be all chitty... if you care about that, you'll need to re-powdercoat or something. Maybe you could use some engine paint and do it yourself though.

The other option is to tap holes in your swingarm...

Or you could just flip the stand holders and not use spools.

True... a little less stable though if you knock into it or something...

Another thing I just thought of... you said you tried to bend it back but were afraid you might snap it off... well if you used a blowtorch to heat it (or maybe a heat gun) as you tried to bend it you should be able to do so without it separating at all. You just need to get it hot enough to be malleable but not so hot that you melt it or completely ruin the finish.

I can't see the pics with PB being blocked at work... but if there is anything wrong with the stand itself just send it back. If its the bike... without seeing the pics I'm not sure....

I don't remember seeing holes in my swingarm on my 2005 R6, can't recall. But I have spools/sliders on mine and can just replace the entire thing, or just the puck (Vortex).

I had the dealer put mine on, but that was like two months after I bought the bike. Like I stated above, I don't recall seeing holes pretapped for spools, and it took the dealer like an hour to get them on so I'm guessing they tapped them at the shop and then put the spools on. When I lowsided the bike, it slid and all I did was replace the puck, bolt came right out and wasn't bent at all. I'd look now but the bike is still in the shop.

lol, I wish it would've. The bolt isn't bent at all, its just the where the mount is welded onto the swingarm

Before I opened this, I said "I bet it's a Kawi". My buddy low-sided his Kawi and the whole mount fell off. He went and bought a new (to him) swingarm off Ebay though. I think he paid like two bills for it. You could always reverse the mounts on the stand and just use the swingarm itself to hold the bike up.

If you jacked the swingarm, there is only a few options.

One live with it, don't use the spools and flip the pit bull ends and just use the feet like you would if you didn't have spools.

Get a new swingarm and hope it don't happen again.

Have it tig welded and then re-powdercoated. Or after welding it, just paint it. There have been a few members around here that have had good luck with painting these things like swingarms, fork legs and such.

I believe I'm going to go with option #1, live with it for $200
