need to clean my carbs?

what are the tell tell signs of the carbs needing to be cleaned. my bike runs and drives no problems, but i have no idea of when they were last cleaned. i had a year now.
also, u think a shop would have a problem with me taking the carbs out myself and dropping it off them?

BAM.

Besides if you're going to pull the carbs, you better plan on getting them re-jetted and re-sync'ed.

IF you dont have any issues with the bike running, all you need do is keep riding. BUT, if you DO have a running issue, like its running too rich, too lean, or its sputtering etc, you would need to get the carbs cleaned. if you dont have one yet, an inline fuel filter is a good idea though.
