Get a rebuild kit for the master cyclinder.

As far as the starter... check the safety switches first...clutch, nuetral, kickstand..

be sure to use those spacers (washers) that came with the banjo bolts. althought rare, the holes in the bolt may not line up if not using the correct washers.

first, determine where the blockage is. remove the top of the lines and check if fluid passes through the master cylinder. then connect the top and disconnect the bottom (caliper end) and check for fluid.

post your findings.

being that its a newer setup, its likely to have a radial master cylinder.
have you tried bleeding the mastercylinder yet? if not, there will be a bleeder valve on top, try pumping the brakes up and opening that valve. then once you've done that proceed to bleed the rest of the system. sounds like you've got an airlocked master cylinder. DEFINATELY check to ensure you've got the right crush washers in the right places though. if you dont, NOTHING is gonna work.

for your other issue, GM got it nicely.
