battery, missing something.....

may sound stupid but,

this morning, since i was gonna be doing some errands,
decided to take the battery out of the bike to get it checked
and/or charged @ the local AutoZone. (haven't ridden since accident)

unscrewed the screws that hold the terminals to the posts then took it
out, no prob.
now i get back to put the battery back in, and the screws have nothing
to thread thru onto the posts.
don't remember hearing or seeing any nuts falling out of the posts.

anyone know what i'm missing or should be looking for?

tia.

took care of the nut.

But,
while trying to clean her all up and putting everything back together
stripped one bolt that holds the tank in the rear and snapped another
that holds the tank in the front.
and the broken piece is still in the hole.

not having a good day.

looks like these will be over the winter projects added on to the list.

easeouts are your friend. check your local walmart, hardware store, etc. That and a drill and they shouldnt be to bad to get out. As long as you didnt cross thread them then you will need a tap to clean the threads up.

The one that hangs lower

Jalaan, I was going to say "Look at a battery" at the shop and just happen to grab the square nut, but sounds like you got it.

FOr the bolt, EZ-out like PG said, or just get a set of left handed drill bits and use the small one on that bolt, it should be pretty loose in there since you just had it out. For the stripped one, run a tap of the same size thorough and you might be able to clean the threads, or run a tap one size bigger and buy a bolt that fits the new bigger hole, and drill out what it holds down if you need to as well.
