Clutch lever is tough

I'm having a problem with my bike. Its a '04 GSXR 600, has about 8,700 miles on it. Basically the clutch lever has become really tough to pull, is there a way to lubricate it? It doesn't seem to hang up on anything and shifts fine but it wears me out after a bit of riding. Clutch has never been changed just adjusted at the lever for slack. Any help would be appreciated as my left forearm is begining to look like Popeye's.
