big oil spill after hard run
What's goin on guys, been reading alot, first time poster. new registrar also....
about a month ago i bought a kawaii Ninja 250 (1992) and i've been riding it mostly normal for the first half of owning it, but now that i'm learning the bike more, i'm learning what it can and can't do.
today i made a mistake...
i rode with a buddy of mine on a 96 ninja 500.. we were going down I24 around here.. i was doing 120.. now think about it. the top speed on those bikes was set at about 106. i know i was doing 120 because he told me he wouldn't leave me, and he was doing 125 and not going to much faster than I was, plus my buddy was in his truck doing about 110 and i was leaving him.
well when we got back to our meeting point (a motorcycle shop) i stopped on the sidewalk and shut my bike off.. and oil began pouring out of the left side of my bike. we toook it back to my buddy's house and took the side fairings off and saw that it was coming from the airbox.
popped open the airbox and there was oil in it. cleaned it up, put something in there to absorb the new oil....
now it runs like nothing is wrong.. however i'm not pushing it anymore than 9k RPMS.. (70mph or so)
does anyone have any idea what happened, and what kind of internal damage that has caused?
(btw at 120, i was doing 15,500 RPMS, 500 from the end of my tach.)
