If a Communications major can do it, so can you!
After much frustration with OEM-style Yuasa batteries (3 total in 5-1/2 years and 18,000 miles of ownership since new), bit the bullet and bought an Alien Motion-brand lithium battery. Had to configure a 6-gauge cable from Auto Zone and cut it in half and added copper terminals to each end, but even though the bike and battery had sat dormant for a month, after I buttoned things all up last night, my '06 749 "Duck" fired right up...AND showing more voltage on the voltmeter than with the previous Yuasas. No, Alien Motion doesn't get the publicity of Ballistic and Shorai, but they are eminently more-affordable and are "assembled in U.S.A." (unlike the Yuasas, which despite their magazine ads, are not ALL made here!). 6 pounds lighter than stock, too, so it's like free horsepower! So far, so good. If you're gonna' go "lith", give Alien Motion some well-deserved consideration!
