how do you know its running rich...is it bogging when you get on the throttle, is it running rough.etc.....a lot of times a jet kit and a pipe is going to get you more high end power and youll lose low end power...you really cant have both (most of the time)

what kind of kit was it, dyno-jet or factory?????

Ditto...more info

Rarely is the question stupid, but sometimes the answer is you need to run everything you read online through your own personal BS meter to determine if it makes sense to you.

I have not replied cuz bike was in shop. Installed was a dynojet kit stage #1 on 2000 gixxer 600. they were told to put it on there dynomechine & adjust accordingly. the guy called & said i have a problem w/ a short in the electrical cuz it'scutting out at high rpm's-they found problem,it was the kick stand side switch came lose(bike thought kickstand was comeing down)anyway, tighted it up. Synchronization of the Carb's along w/rejetting according to the dyno it was done w/ a 5hp gain. Come get it they say. Upon arrival i'm told it would be 5 minutes he had last min. adj. 15 min. later i go around back & see the guy test rideing it - he pulls up & says''can u go have lunch or something cuz it has a low start out miss'' what can i say cuz i live 30min. away. Come back & they cant figure it out.a arguement arises & infront of me he chk's the compression its low & chk'ing the valves cuz the bike has 17000miles on it that adjusting them he said he was 90% sure that was it. Iagree since the valves should have been adjt. at 15000miles. I call next day for him to say that valves did need adj. & after 4hr's(which he isn't chargeing me for) they determined it to be something electrical & that unless i was ready to put some more $$$ besides the $365.00 bill now there done. At take off it wants high RPM's or it stumbles & cuts out but beyound that it is what i wanted--i don't know if he was piching more parts but he said a new clutch was going to be needed soon. HAVE ANY IDEAS??????

hard to diagnose without riding, but first thing i have to ask is how did it run before the jet kit...was it fine or was there a problem....low take off problems usually lie in the idle adjustors and the a little on the needle position , but it could also be carb float level not set right etc....if you knew how to adjust the ildle screws and shim the needles you could do some experimental things yourself and take it for a ride and see how it is.

my opinion is for 5 hp gain, if the bike ran fine before the jet kit and its running like crap now, then id pull it out if its thats an option...just keep us informed and well try to straighten it out for ya...oh ya, should have went with a factory jet kit...ive had much more luck with them...just some info for the future

This is exactly what I was just thinking

If the bike was running fine before you brought it in .... how did installing a jet kit in the carbs suddenly cause all these other problems to appear?

Brought it in cuz before the another shop put the dyno kit on it would acutually spin the know replaced bawled tire in the low end 1st&2nd power band replaced the tires ''Meteler'' it would grip & pull up off the ground 6 inches or so. after kit was installed it would get it but it couldn't just DIG IN---thats why after the original shop w/o a dyno meter had 3or4times to adjust it & failed a friend suggested the dyno hook up...don't get me wrong the bike is back to the original power except for that miss. it's like a over load or it's starveing not getting enough???? noticed the screw was loose on the throttle screw which shares for one of the radiator overflow res. Going to chk. that & look into your idea's to THANKS
