is this legit????

okay i have emailed a guy and this is what he replied as:

Quote:
Hi

The bike is still for sell, The bike is like new , never laid down , abused
or raced .The bike has 5600 miles. i`m the first owner . I must tell you
that I had to move to UK one month ago with my work and I took the bike
with me hoping to drive it here as well. I work in Public relations
departament at a hotel here and because of this job I change my home quite
often. Here I had an unpleasant surprise because the bike is an US model
and to pay the registration here in Europe, to pass all the emissions and
standards and many other would be quite expensive and nobody would do it.
I have tried to sell it locally but it was not succesfully. That is why I
am trying to sell the bike back in USA, there will be no further problems
.The shipping and handling ar included in the price.

If interested please reply asap. Shipping takes 4-5 days.
Thank you for your time.

I'd have to also say scam. Unless he's asking like 3000 Euros, which would include shipping in that also. It's going to cost me like $600 bucks just to ship the bike from El Paso, Texas to New York City when I go visit my dad, and that's through FedEx with a corporation discount!

You can't really base it on that info though, Graff. It costs a lot more to ship stuff internationally, from my understanding. When I order parts from Britain, there's usually a fairly hefty tax (GST) or something like that applied.

That said...I would also be inclined to say it's a scam. I don't think that they are quite as hard on emissions and whatnot over there...but I could be wrong. I definitely wouldn't deliver the money before the bike was in hand, Bull.

"Shipping only takes 4-5 days." Is he going to air-freight it to you? If you believe this type of scam, then the guy in Africa who is watching $41 million, and will transfer part into your account after you give him your PIN #, is looking just for you.

Hey Bull,

I checked with my SV forum, including a couple people that are either FROM Britain or do business/shipping over there. The long and short of it is that this is almost 99% sure to be a scam. There's no way he can ship it back this side that quickly without it costing MEGA bucks.

See all replies here: http://forum.svrider.com/viewtopic.php?p=453400#453400

Look for something state side.

not a scam!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hello ,

Like i have told you the total price is $4,000 , in this price ar included shipping and
handling . The deal will be made in this matter: first of all I will send you the bike and I will give
you all the necessary data for you to verify that the bike was sent. After you have verify
the information I need to be sure that you agree to close the deal so you have to send me
the money through WesternUnion (money transfer) not money order. Before I send the bike i
need a confimation as you are sure to agree for us to close the deal and that you have the
money. I want you to be serious about this because I am spending money with this shipping
because i can't aford loosing this money and I will feel obligated to contact the
autorities. I want the money to be send in 24h after the shipping will be made.

OK , I`ll wait your email when you sold your bike and have the money .

Look forward to hearing from you!

Thank you ,

Are you trying to tell us that it is not a SCAM??? If so...STOP asking us for our thoughts and do what you want. You ask us what we think, we tell you, and there are times you go off and do your own thing anyways.

He wants you to send the $ within 24 hours after he sends you the shipping documents. He will probably give you some faulty documents. It's not when the bike arrives, it's when you get a copy of the documents. Just keep searching in the US, you'll find something.

No, he wants to ship the bike, and have the money within 24 of WHEN he ships it. That means all you might see is a receipt saying that he shipped SOMETHING... he doesnt say ill ship it to you and if you like it send me the money, that woule be absolutely moronic to do anyway...
