Changing the rear tire with a new tool

Changed my tires today. The front is easy, but that darn rear tire. Mine has a spacer on either side, a 14-inch long axle, and a brake caliper that has to fit a torque arm in the swingarm and have the mounting hole for the brake bracket next to the right spacer, without knocking the spacer to the ground.

You just need one hand to lift the tire, one hand to move the tire fore and aft, one to push in the axle, one to hold the right spacer and one to hold the brake caliper bracket in position. Like most people I only have two hands. But I did it with a minium of fuss by using a new tool.

I used my wife's planting shovel. The rectangular shovel face fits under the tire and with a 2x4 block just below, I was able to lever the tire with my left elbow and use my left hand to push the axle while my right hand held the bracket and spacer. I had the wheel on in 15 seconds, but then it took me 15minutes to adjust the chain and do the alignment.

I just use my foot. It works well with the height of the Pit-Bull stand. We all find the way to do what needs to be done.
