Fuel problem

I ride a 94 gsxr 750 this afternoon I was riding home from work and it acted like it was running out of fuel. Finally it cut off so I pulled into a driveway checked the tank and it had fuel in it. So I tried to choke it and it wouldn't start so I let it sit for a minute and tried again and nothing. I took the tank off and leaned it forword choked it and it crunk up. I called a friend to bring me some fuel and everything was fine on the ride home(only about 3 miles). Even know all the gas was not out of my tank does this sound like it ran out or is there another problem here. Any help would be appriciated. Flipmo

Did you flip the petcock to reserve or was it on reserve when you ran out?

Well the knob for the reserve was removed when my tank was painted a month ago and they lost it so I don't have it right now.

I wonder if it has a fuel filter and/or a petcock screen....

It has a inline filter but the dealership says it does not show that this bike has a inline filter and if it was a inline filter and it was clogged it wouldn't have started?

Well maybe its only clogged enough to stop it from running...but just enough to get it started before it starves out.

Remove the filter and go to the dealer...buy another regardless of what their part diagram shows...you ahve one and they should be replaced at LEAST every other year if not every year.

Without having your petcock for switching to reserve, I think you just ran out of gas. You can't completely run the tank dry without removing tank and manually draining the tank.

If the tank had been off for service recently maybe the line wasn't sitting right. Coulda been a the fuel line was routed incorrectly or kinked and wasn't getting fuel...

But sounds like you just ran out of gas....get that petcock back in correct order so you can switch to reserve.
