flames from pipe

Hey guys my buddy just bought a GYT-R pipe for Dlitalien. The thing sounds AMAZING the only issue is that when he revs it way up and lets off it a blue flame shoots out the pipe. It looks cool as hell but we don't know if its bad for the bike or not. Ive seen harleys shoot fire before but I don't think Ive ever seen a rocket do it. Anyone else ever had that happen?

Its fairly normal for an aftermarket exhaust to allow flames.

All the gas that is dumped into the motor on a quick deceleration has to go somewhere. With out all the baffles and packing in a stock exhaust to catch the unburned gas. You get the blue flame.

If its popping like a back fire under normal use. The bike may be a little rich.

Cool. No it doesn't pop or back fire its just when he revs it up or takes off and then quickly lets off the throttle, it shoots out the flame. I think its cool so Im glad its normal.

It pops if you let off the gas at high RPM's but just a little. R6's are known to do this. The airbox causes this. Some people modify their's to eliminate the popping, but there's nothing wrong with it. And yes, it still popped w/ a power commander.

You don't even need to do all that... just run another coil and drill in a spark plug at the end of the muffler. Then just wire it up so its to kill 2 out of the 4 cylinders and that excess gas will then go out the pipe to the spark plug and FIRE!!!!

Sounds like you need to put a power comander on it or a step up in the jets if its a carbed bike. if you got that pipe on the bike your running lean and then if you put a K&N fillter on it then your running really lean.

I have a power commander. It still popped. It's the Yammie air box that makes it pop like that.

Or you could move to San Fransisco and spend the rest of your time being gay.

Not too bad though. You hardly even notice it. If you don't mind me asking how did that happen. We thought for hours trying to figure out how the pipe could get rashed but not the can. You can hardly see it anyway unless you are at exactly the right angle. (while hes riding anyway) Besides once he heard it he said he didn't care what it looked like. The way it sounds makes up for anything. Any idea if that company has a website or anything. Now Im thinking that if my YOSH pipe doesn't sound good Im going to look into one of those but I can't find a place to order them or anything.

The pipe is made by Graves under the GYT-R name. They only make those pipes for yamaha's. My buddy was riding my bike and he was turning it around and he dropped it. Yeah, it's weird the can didn't get hit.

Disable the PAIR system, that extra fresh air in exhaust track is letting the unburnt fuel ignite, cool "yes", but unless you want to repack the pipe every other month, plug the PAIR system.
