thinking of taking my chain guard off

like the title says, i think it looks alot cleaner with them off, and i will obv put it back on when i have a passenger but i usually dont ride with one and i have the pegs off as well. Will it really get that much dirtier? even in the summer?

Keep it on, or get a custom one. I've seen three chains snap before and the chain guard kept there swingarm/surrounding items in check.

not to mention, doesnt it also help keep crap (grease, etc) from flying up and hitting your undertail?

Take it off! I took mine off and it looks so much cleaner. Only one seat so i dont take passengers. It really doesnt sling that much oil. It looks neat with the fender removed also. I'll post a pic if i can ever figure out how.

That may have come across wrong. All the people above have more experience that me and are correct that its safer to leave it on. I didn't mean to contradict. Im just saying that i haven't had a prob. yet and like the way it looks.

The collateral damage would be too high, if the chain snaps without the guard.

I actually didn't take mine off. It didn't have one when I bought it. I've looked for one...but they go for mad jack on eBay...just like the solo cowl.
