Is the 05 sv650 a good bike?

Is a 2005 sv650 with 15800 miles for $4500 a good buy. What are the specs on it. is it anything like a sport bike.

i have an 05 S model (w/upper fairing) and I love it. lots of torque. great for the twisties. run with liter bike all the time in the city and no problem keeping up.....don't know about the highway and open road.

as far as the price...it's a little high especially if it's not the s model. i paid about the same from a dealer but mine only had 3000 miles.

yeah like what's been said above... I think it's a bit too much for the miles... but they're good bikes... I know quite a few people that have SV650's that are track only bikes... if that tells you anything about they're performance...

i test drove one while i was shopping for a gsxr. they do have more torque but there is NO comparison between the top end of one and the other.

If you are looking for a crotch rocket there is substitute for the big four sport bikes. but if you just wanna have fun in the city and canyons. SVs are great.

in california i could have gotten an 03 sv650 with 1500mi for $3800. there was also a like new 05 for $4500 do what you want though.

You have to do suspension work and a little gearing, then they fly like banshees through tight corners. Has no top end though.

Mine made the front page of killboy.com

I have an 05 SV650S and love it. City riding it can't be beat, light to light I can keep up with liter bikes, and you can't beat the sound of a V twin!
They are a little light on the top end, but how often do you need to go over 130 mph?
As for price, yeah, definatly a bit steep. I picked mine up as a holdover demo, 1700 miles, and it was $4800 out the door, with a warranty.
