1999 GSXR600 reg/rec

Anyone seen a reg/rec do this to the connector ? I have omh'ed the wires coming from the stator and they are where the manual says they should be. No-load voltage is fine too with engine running @ 5000 rpm I am getting about 60vac. I noticed with the reg/rec plugged into the connector I am getting a short to ground from the positive side of the battery, when disconnected ..the short goes away.. Any thoughts? Thanks alot

hmm...Looks like it is a obviously a heat issue...I had this happen on some headlight connectors all of the readings were correct but everytime they would melt.

Ok heres what I have done, I color coded the wires coming off the bike end of the molex connector, then cut out the melted crap and installed some new insulated spade connectors. Reattached all the wiring. Installed a new battery from the damn dealer..$75 bones. after zip tieing everything up nice and neat I figured I would do some measuring. Ohming from the positive battery terminal to the frame I get a direct short or so it seems. I followed the main wire coming off the battery which goes around to to starter relay. the black wire should go down to the starter. I believe. Well the black wire tests continuous to the frame so I think the starter may be fried...Dammit Jim!!

Well I would love to help more.. but electrical is one thing I'm not good with. I'm also not sure what help you need as you seem to have everything under control.

Well thanks for all the input, after putting everything back together she seems to be doing ok. Rode her around for awhile earlier and things went good. shes been sitting for three hours, just check the battery, still at 12.9 volts ..thats a good thing. Gonna spin her around some more tonight. After riding for about 40 mins, the new connections to the reg/rec were barely hot at all. Screw them molex connectors lol. Will update on progress.. thank again guys!
