Friends 07' 1000 dynoed

My friend posted this on another forum about his new bike so I thought I would share over here...

Quote:
A local bike dealer (Chriswell power sports) in my area has a bike night every wendsday, where they have free food and drinks, and bikers from all around come to hang out. They also have bands, DJs, and contests. Well this week they had a dyno contest. It was only $25 for three pulls so I entered to get a baseline before I put on my exhaust. They had the contest split into two groups, 750cc and below and 751 and above. I know kinda stupid but thats how they did it. Anyway, I looked around and saw a bunch of 06 and below 1000s so I figured I might do good but probably not gonna win. Then I saw some guy on a ZX14 roll up and then it was offical. I ended up falling only 6 rwhp short of the ZX14! Which gave me second place and the choice between a new helmet or a new icon mesh jacket! I was more than impressed and the people that worked there were even more impressed than me! Especially being that I have only 800 miles on the od and it's 100% completely stock!

Dyno numbers were as follows:

ZX14 170 rwhp

My K7 164 rwhp

I'm going back next week to see what my exhaust does for me.
Pretty impressive. He later explained they didnt give him the torque numbers but when he goes back to pick up his prize he is going to ask for the chart with the torque numbers and graph. the chart he recieved only showed HP and A/F

Bottom line... a lot of insane power. I think the only real choice between a liter bike and a hypersport is riding style, twisties vs. straight, track vs. drag, touring options.

Liter bikes are still king to me. I slapped around a Hayabusa last week (twice) in a half mile drag race and can STILL out corner them. (p.s. the guy on the busa has been riding for 20 years)

Gee Officer I uhhh......didn't know I couldn't do that!

Of course not! Ride whatcha like, especially if it makes you happy. Liter bike just does it for me.

haha I was just giving you a hard time...

If I could fit on a liter bike cofortably for an extendedperiod of time id love one... I may get one eventually for ****s and giggles but as a sole bike, I need one I can ride comfortably...

ROck On Gixxer riders!

Liter bikes are 900-1090cc bikes... that's what most people are talking about when they are saying liter bikes.

The busa is 1300cc's 300cc's over the liters... so you can't quite put them in the same category...

it'd be like putting the GSXR750 in with the 600's.... and that's only 150 cc's!

hope that helps...

Has anyone tested both the 07 gsxr 1000 and the 07 cbr 1000? I'd like to hear what their opinion of both are? And which was their preference?

I know in Germantown, MD the Criswell Powersports dealership has a bike night every Wednesday. Next time I go up there I will ask around and get some opinions for you. I do know my friend with the GSXR1000 LOVES his bike and convinced another one of our friends to dump his ZX10 and get a GSXR1000 as well.

The only thing I do know is that the 07 GSXR1000's some of them have an ilding issue that needs to be fixed. I dont think there are very many with this issue but one of my buddies was unlucky enough to get one with this problem.

Given the diffence in weight (about 100lbs) I'd take the power to weight ratio of the 1K anyday. F that ZX14!
