I just heard about it yesterday at the suzuki place. I'm told it'll be an I4 fuel injected bike. clearly meant to compete with Kawasaki's 650R, and probably replace the aging carbureted GS500F.

Yeah...i think the Ninja 650 looks better than this tho...Im beginning to wonder if the motorcycle companies are just ignoring the fact that an SV650 engine on a frame similar to the Gixxer would look and probably sell 10x better than that I mean its like theyre trying to turn beginners AWAY from the beginner bikes...surley they know the RRs sell good because of aesthetics not just speed...

I think it looks great. I haven't seen a test yet, but it looks like a worthy replacement for the Katana.

It is ugly. Looks identical to a GS500 to me. Also...moved to Suzuki section.

Is it going to be a Katana replacement? I like the look of it as far as being a sport tourer.

Yes it is the replacement for the Kat. It's an I4 656cc, not the twin from the SV.

It would make sense for the GSX650 to be in the same spot as the ZZR600- but it won't get far on looks alone

It's a completely different bike than the twin 650's. It's an I4 touring bike like the Katana.

Here's the specs

The Versys is more in competition with the SV650 naked. It's a parallel twin, not an I4 like the GSX650F.

In my opinion this is competition for the Yamaha FZ6. A tamer I-4 FI, just like it. I like the idea, don't like the price.

or like the newer F4i's. I like the looks but the price is a bit too high.

I'd say the target competition for this bike would be the ZZR and the R6S
The ones that are a few year old SS bikes, detuned and different ergos for more everyday friendly riding.
