newbie suzuki

gotta question- a buddy of mine is looking at getting his first bike, and was looking at a zuk gs500, 2005 model. looks like a gsxr, just smaller. any thoughts on this bike? i notice alotta you new guys go with the kawi 250 or 500, not too many if any suzuki 500's. any reason?

oh yea, i already beat into his head about gear, the msf course(he just passed it last week) and all that crap.

so whats up? pros, cons, rants, raves, chits and giggles, useless posts, and thread jacking is also encouraged, as that is the twf way

it weighs almost 100 pounds more than my 250. but then, the ninja 500 is not much lighter either.

i see-well if he gets it and says its too heavy after a week of riding, ill tell him to "man up" and take his skinny ass to the gym

what about ergos and reliability? does it have corner carverability(for a newb) or is it really just a commuter with fairings?

its basically a GS500E (standard bike) with fairings... and the GS500E has been around so I think theres plenty of parts. beyond that I have no clue.

oh, i thought they got rid of the "e", and the "f" was all new. its the same old chit then, just like the kawi. also did a search and found a few things, no red flags, so ill probably be riding it to his house for him tomorrow if its not messed up

I've only had my GS500F for a little over a month, but for a first bike it is great. It's not really that much smaller than a gixxer, just skinnier. seat height feels about the same. It does feel heavier than a gixxer, I think mine is 380 dry, and around 420 wet (hope thats right). From what I have read it corners good if you know what your doing. My mind keeps telling my body it doesn't like left's. Went out for a group ride with a friend this weekend, and he was supprissed I kept up fairly well with his gixxer 750. I bought mine over the Kawi 500 because I liked the looks better, and I liked the more upright seating position while I learn.

TWO for $2500. Now that's a deal. You can sell the extra one.

na, a 500 would feel like a moped to me after what im used too-im shooting for a 00-03 geezer 750, its a good compromise between my right hand and my wallet

if i thought i could flip it fast enough for enough of a profit, i would buy one too...maybe the guy would give us a deal if we got two. hmmmm.

they're 2500 apiece, maybe 3500 for two, split that=1750...sell it for 2500 obo-na, too much work for $250
