!996 Suzuki Bandit 600, What's it worth?

I've got a friend who has a Suzuki Bandit 600 that he's got sitting after he purchased a new bike. I've asked him about the details of the bike and how much he's looking to get it for... He's wanting to get $1000 for it.

$1000 isn't a terrible price in my mind however I'm really nervous about the bike... It has approximately 60k miles on it. I'm a new rider but I'm fairly mechanical and in my mind at 60k, this bike is almost done.

So, anyone have any input? What do you think its worth? Here's a few more details on it...

After the last person worked on it removed the gas tank they never primed the carburetor. I assume that's the only issue. New battery, new fork seals... Would probably need a chain resetting... I just paid registration for it and am waiting for tags... Custom headlight... But wiring is a little funny on the bike. Doesn't say when it's in neutral... Bike has a lot of miles on it. It was a commuter. ~60k. It does burn a little oil, but not a lot.. I remember adding 1/2 a quart between oil changes. It does have to warm up before driving it too.

So anyone that knows a thing or 2 about these bikes, let me know what you think, I like the look of the bike and would love to take it off his hands but don't want to buy it and then have it die right away.
