05 gixxer 1000 road test?

Has anyone done one yet? A guy here just got one and it's a bad bike, but I haven't read any performance specs on it yet. They upped the hp by 20, but I don't know what they upped the torque, what's it's running in the 1/4, etc.

They look mean as everything. for the money I would by a busa instead though. Wait I did! HEHE One of my boys JRBCOBRA will have one in a few weeks. Waiting to find out if his katana 600 was totaled. Before you guys start. He didn't drop it, his brother-n-law did. I know you guys will still have have something to say about the big step to a 1000 from a 600. Got to give the bike props on style though.

12 sounds a little more credible. Still a huge jump in power in only one model year. When you consider how hard these guys work just to find a couple HP, 12 still sounds like a lot. 20 is just unrealistic, especially since the previous Gixxer was already a monster.

Here you go.
So BHP is the english way of measuring horsepower, so If we convert it to SAE that will give us 157.01896 horsepower. Seems low.

But going here would make it correct...

BHP is just the hp at the crank.

The horsepower number doesn't really matter, that's just telling you how hard the engine is working. The torque number is what shows how much power is getting to the ground. I'd be curious to know the torque numbers.

Brake horsepower was a term commonly used before the 1970s in the United States, and is still common in the United Kingdom. It indicates the brake, the device for measuring the true power of the engine. Stating power in 'bhp' gives some indication this is a true reading, rather than a calculated or predicted one. However, several manufacturers started to strip their engines of essential ancillaries for the purposes of getting a high horsepower figure to use in marketing the car.

Both of my numbers are BHP

Not sure if this is what you are looking for or not.
I have a cycle magazine at home with a 1st ride test on the 05 GSXR 1000.
Iíll check the name of the magazine when I get home and see if they have an on-line version of the article.

BTW - I just purchased one last week for the S/O. Heís put 400 miles in one week. And he does not even drive it to work
Humm. looks like the 600 will never get lowered : (

Like I said, bhp is at the crank. Those are the numbers magazines and marketers use.
