2005 GSXR First Review! (from me)

I really like this bike!
The trannie is so smooth, the on/off power blurpps that my 03 had is all most non existent and it feels lighter than the 600.
I found myself flowing through the corners smooth as silk, all most a soon as I straddled it for the first time.

I honestly didn't think they could improve on the last generation that much at one time.

Ill give more reviews after I get the damn first few hundred mile on herand can really start ripping.

I'm going to get to ride one tomorrow. A friend of mine just bought one and is riding it up to my place and then we're going riding from here. He HATED to previous Gix 1ks. He had an '02, and rode '03 and '04s. He hated the ergos, he hated the handing.. He had an '04 R1 and now has an '05 1k instead. He LOVES it. Claims it is definitely king of the hill right now. This guy is one of the smoothest and fastest riders you could ever meet. He knows what he's talking about.

I'd still never buy one because supersport ergos in my area is a dumb idea, IMHO. But, it'll be interesting to see what it's like anyway.

I've sat on Twisty and Pippi's '04 GSXR 1K and I really liked the ergos... the old GSXR's '02 and older had horrible ergos... they are the most uncomfotable supersports I've ever sat on... but that's my And I don't think you have to be fast or smooth to be a good judge of ergos!

Well, he did say that the ergos weren't as good as his '04 R1, but tolerable, and much better than the '02 Gix. The only real gripe he has is the fact that you cannot turn around at full lock without smashing your hands into the tank.

On the subject of ergos;
I find that the 05 fits me better than the 03.
I am just under 5'10"
We wont even talk about the previous generation.
My friend is over 6' and says the R1 fits him much better than the 05 Gixxer.

I'm pushing 400 miles on the clock after today and still love it.
Only complaint so far is the damn right hand bar buzz and some vibes in the pegs after hours on end of ridding.

Its time for that service and then to start ripping.
I guess I know what Ill be doing Monday morning before my trip to the Gap!

OK...I have not taken one out for a spin yet but I have sat on it to get a feel for it. The first thing that stuck out at me was the rear end. It seems a bit thin and wide. Mainly where the turn signals are. Not to impressed about that. Next was when I sat on it the feel of the bike between your legs. Yes gixxers make or have you sitting up a bit on the tank in the front on a guy but the 04' and below didn't feel half as bad as the 05' does. The best thing I liked about it was its weight and how light it felt. Sitting on it and moving it around, it felt as if if fell down, I could pick it up with one hand.

Well....this is just my own

The tail is probably my favorite feature. I loved the Aprilia when they did it and Suzuki just made it sexier.

I find the seat on the 05 to be flat with plenty of room to move (side to side and front to back) After my ride through the twisties today, I found my self short on time and 80 miles of interstate ridding away from home.
I was able to adjust my seating position to accommodate the tired areas more effectively than before. I love the shorter reach to the bars.
Suzuki will lose the taller riders on this model.

Now I'm broke.

I just paid the bill for my new Yosha full system, 520 chain & sprockets, PC and not sure about availability of Gpack or TRE.

The new can will be old style Tri Oval. The new style wont be available until this summer but, is supposed to fit the Yosha header if I decide to change it latter.
