Newb questions about Busa....

I'm a new rider to the sport bike world. Just bought a brand new 06 GSX-R600and of course lovin it so far. I'm just now learning about bikes.

My question is, I've always thought the Busa would be much more expensive than it is (on the suzuki website $11,099), and its a 1300cc bike. Now also looking at the YSF-R1, and the GSX-R1000, those two bikes are in the same price range is not more expensive. Can someone explain this to me? Like I said, I'm really new to the bike world, even looking at teh specs of the bikes its like reading chinese, I don't understand it.....yet.

I'm not sure of you question. If you want to know the difference between the GSXR 1000 and the Busa. The answer is, The Busa is a sport touring bike. That means its is supposed to be comfortable on longer rides and can haul a bigger load. (you a passenger and luggage) while still being able to go fast in the corners.
The GSXR is more of a race bike. Both are very fast and almost equal in speed. The Gixxer is just way better in the corners.

Yeah can you be more specific on your question. Are you asking why the price differences are what they are for the size of the motor?

i bet he wants to know why the BUSA...as hiped up as it is as far as speed goes....is the same price as a GSX-R1000 when the busa is a 1300.

I think he is asking why bikes like the ZX-14 and Busa arent around 14-15k instead of the same price as a 1000.

ANSWER,

as jeeps already mentioned....the ZX-14 and Busa are NOT supersport bikes. they are classified as sport touring bikes with big engines!!!

the Gixxer 1000, ZX-10...etc are 11k because they offer more technology....(lighter frames, better brakes, throttle response, flickability, design, etc etc)
they are made for the race track. its a 1000 with 170hp that still weighs only 450lbs wet.

the Busa weights ALOT more and isnt made for dragging around a corner. just pretty much take a big engine and stick it in a bike and sell it.

with the others...more time is taken to make sure they are the PERFECT balance of power/weight/design for the race track.

***no one ever really mentions this ...but i think the price of jap bikes is CHEAP in regards to what you get for the money.

for 8500-10k you can get a 120-150hp supersport bike that can do 170mph and rip through turns/ rev to 15k / handle like a dream...overall AMAZING technology for the package...

and in the same price range is a 4x4 800cc quad or snowmobile or jet ski.....i think the bike has ALOT more going on then those machines.
