Camera mounting options?

I just got a video camera, a samsung sc-x300l, the other day. It's very small, records to flash, and has an external camera you can mount to stuff. I didn't get a motorcycle specific camera because I'd like to use it for other things as well.

So far I've tried my helmet(top), but all you can hear is wind noise. The other option I've tried is putting it on my tank bag, but even the I still got some wind noise.

I'd like to keep it on the helmet, I think, so are there any tricks to stop wind noise? Maybe placing something over the mic hole?

I'm also open to other options. The external camera has a standard camera mounting hole on it, and also comes with a strap and bracket thing, which is what I've used so far.

Below are the two test videos I've created so far. Nothing exciting happens in them, so don't get your hopes up.

Quote this post to figure out how to embed...

As far as your dilemma goes, does your camera have an output for an external mic? If so, you can bury it some place where the wind won't be as much of a factor...

The mic is integrated into the external camera, and the way it plugs into the camera, I can't not use it.

I got an idea... Cover the mic with some celophane tape... It wont' completely block all the noise probably, but should take care of the wind rushing past the mic opening...

This thought crossed my mind as well. Now that someone else has suggested it maybe it's not such a bad idea. I'll give it a shot in the morning.

I'm hoping to hit up some twisties tomorrow, so I hope I can figure something out.

Some camcorders have the built in mic and a place for an external mic... That's one of those things that I keep my eye on when looking...

Can't hurt anything... Just recognize though that I have no idea what the hell I am talking about.

Duly noted. Either way I'll have something tomorrow. It may just sound a lot like wind.

I was playing around with some simulated wind(me blowing over the mic), and tape has no appreciable affect on noise. So I dunno what to do now.
