Accident Vid

Does this look like it was on purpose by the cage driver to you? I try to see why the driver did what he did, but can't.

May be an old vid.

edit: cant get the vid to embed, its here: http://www.bikertube.com/media/626/Motorcycle_Accident/

Yeah, at first I thought that car got hit... but it really just looks like he swerved over in front of the rider on purpose!

I seriously doubt the person swerved on purpose. No one hates bikes enough to swerve and risk killing themselves or raise their insurance rates or spend time in jail.

Looks like he was coming up on slowing traffic and was probably not paying attention. Then noticed it and jammed the brakes then lost it. I wouldn't call him a jerk. He (Not counting the biker) just got unlucky that he happend to hit a motorcycle instead of a car. On top of a motorcycle with a helmet cam on.

Also noticed the rider was a girl. Partially because the rider didn't stare at that woman's chest all day long. But mainly because they said it was a her.

It looked like the bike rider had some good reactions. Didn't look like she grabbed the brake(Nor any back brake at all) and swerved to the most open spot. Many people would have just grabbed both brakes nad probably came out a lot worste. But she was also wearing full gear.

Yeah I don't know, but it sure doesn't look like anyone in front of him is stopping though. Nice of the bystanders to get right in there and help though. Even the guy from the car that caused it gets out, thats why I think it can't be on purpose. Who knows why people do the crap they do though.

I watched the video over and over and it looks to me like the rider wasn't braking too hard at all. They turned to try to avoid the car twice but were slow on hitting the brakes afterwards. I am sure they didn't expect that car to spin out into their lane either. This is probably why they were slow to hit the brakes.IMHO

That driver was not paying attention. If you watch the video closely you see the car cruising pretty quickly towards the slowing white SUV. They probably were looking the other way then looked back and saw that SUV a lot closer and slowing down. The person then hit the brakes too hard and locked them up.

The rider really should have been riding in the car pool lane. That is the safest place on that highway.

Hopefully the rider was not hurt too bad.

that vid has been around for awhile, it was a punk kid driving and something had happened to his car, cant remember the exact story, but it was a combo of him not paying attention or mechanical diffs...and he tried not to take fault for the whole thing, but it wasnt an intentional thing with running the biker over...

I have seen that before. From my perspective it looks as if the the car driver lost it going straight but I blame bad american driver education for that more than anything. As for the biker she was is a really tight spot that would be really hard for anyone to avoid [email protected] happens on the road sometimes.

I've seen this before... and where I saw it, they had a link to the forum where the rider actually posted it.

he didn't swerve on purpose... it looks like he grabbed the e-brake but I doubt that too... cause damn... you'd have to be a complete moron to pull the e brake in traffic...

I think he just stopped paying attention and looked up and saw the car in front of him a lot closer than he thought... and panic brake'd...

As a mechanic that car is def a "newer" honda so it has abs so slamming on your brakes wouldnt cause your car to nose dive and swing around from the looks of the video exactly as stated above driver wasnt paying attention came up quick on white SUV infront of him went to slam on brakes realized he wasnt slowing down fast enough and grabbed the e-brake in desperation and for the biker nothing she could do the car to her right slowed down and boxed her in forcin her to try and squeeze that tight spot but also pushing her into the black honda

It looked like a mid90s Honda and they may not have had the I think Stage 2 ABS systems. Which in turns I think the older 1 stage ABS systems would lock up. And ABS doesn't work immediately. If he slammed and started to swerve the brakes could still lock up and if in a skid I think the ABS would sense the vehicle has stopped sense both front and rear tires have haulted to a stop. And at that point he's already in a skid.

Basically it looks like one of those Murphy's Law things. Everything that could go wrong went wrong at just the right time.

If you are happen to be making very dramtic steering inputs on the wheel it would. Actually the way to make a front wheel drive honda rotate nicely is to trail break just not a good for traffic with a motorcylce headed your way.
