SPA 2010 Cup Series - May 22/23

It's time! Round 2 of the SPA 2010 Cup Series will be held on May 22nd and 23rd at MGKT, North America's greatest kart track. Don't worry if you missed Round 1, there are plenty of points left to fight for!

Saturday, May 22nd (Contact the track directly for Friday practice availability): Open practice

Sunday, May 23rd: Racing

***Featherweight ***
Bikes must be Cag/Blata 2.5 HP production Bluebird-based engine.
Any modification may be made to pipe, motor, chassis or wheels.
Clutches must remain stock non-adjustable however upgraded springs are allowed.
Carburetor limited to SHA 14/14mm., with 14mm/14mm being the maximum diameter.

***Modified Production ***
Limited to air or water cooled Polini or Blata engines only.
Engine shall be no more than a 3 port cylinder limited to 40cc.
Carburetor limited to SHA 14/14mm., with 14mm/14mm being the maximum diameter.
No race or modified cranks.
Any production* air box, clutch, wheels and tires allowed.
Absolutely no modifications to engine, exhaust (Pipe wrapping allowed), or other engine components.
Any pipe allowed.

*Production defined as more than 25 items made and or available for sale to the public. ** Stock Polini 4 petal reed adapters allowed on Polini 4.2 series 1 motors

***Super Production ***
Polini Powered (3 port cyl.)
AMG Powered (3 port cyl.)
BZM Super Production Powered (3 port cyl.)
Blata Elite 14
Bikes may have no porting/polishing
Race cranks permitted.
Flat top pistons permitted.
Carburetor limited to SHA 14/14mm., with 14mm/14mm being the maximum diameter.
Any pipe allowed.

***50 cc Open ***
2 stroke air or water cooled up to 50cc, up to 6 port Unlimited modifications allowed. 6.5 wheels (No X-Bikes).

***Shifter ***
Class includes YSR, NSR, Thumper, Mid Bike, Metrakit, Motard, X-Bikes or similar bikes.

General Rules:

All reservoir caps/drain plugs/etc MUST be safety wired to pass tech. Shifter Class bikes must have catch cans (50 cent travel shampoo bottles work great). If you need help with this, anyone at the track would be happy to assist.

Walk around tech inspections will occur before the rider's meeting.

All riders must attend the rider's meeting.

Flagging and scoring volunteers needed!

Proper motorcycle racing equipment required.Full face helmets must be rated DOT, Snell 95 approved or better and are mandatory. Helmets must have full-face shield or goggles and must be made of a shatterproof material. Suitable protective attire made of durable fabric must cover the entire body. Suits made of leather or a combination of leather and durable fabric with protective armor are preferred. Gloves must be made of leather or other durable fabric and must be in good shape without holes except for ventilation. Severely damaged or worn gloves are unacceptable. Knee, elbow and hand protection is mandatory.

Bikes must display legible 3 background-contrasting numbers on front and tail sections of every bike to be scored. Email me to reserve your number for the SPA 2010 Series.

Any bike in any class may be protested for a $75.00 tear down fee, post race. If the Tech Committee finds the bike in question to be in violation of the class rules, the rider will be disqualified from the race and all points earned in that race shall be forfeited. The bike will not be allowed to reenter a race in the class it was found illegal until the offending issue is resolved. If the protested bike is found to have been in compliance, the entire fee is remitted to the rider protested.

Classes will be run based upon rider turnout (Minimum four riders).

Any bike may be raced up in class however bikes classified as Featherweight-legal may not run in the 50cc Open class. Special consideration regarding the safety of minors is reserved to the rules/tech committee.

On-site Camping, each vehicle $30.00 per weekend. Please see the MGKT website for more details. Campers are welcome to use the showers and fire pit located in the pits for their enjoyment. Dogs are welcome but they must be on a leash and you need to clean up after them. Please no violent pets as this is a very family oriented track!
