gauge cluster backlighting

Now that the turn signals are done, I want to do something to improve my gauge lighting. the orange-ish glow they have looks like crap to me, I'd prefer something like a green, blue or red instead of what they have. only problem, is I dont know how to make this possible. is it just a bulb behind the clusters? or is it a little more complex than that? I REALLY hate the orange color.

You can also change the bulbs to a different color or go with LED bulbs. You can find the bulbs in any automotive supply.

This goes back a few years, but JC Whitney used to sell a dye for lightbulbs so you could have any color dash lights. Check online to see if anyone still makes or sells it.

stock bulb is a 194 clear color, I bought 2 packs of red ones, same size and stuck em in for now. probably wont do too much, if anything due to the orange tint being in the freakin faceplates. gotta get someone to do a mass order of 50+ of those from the streetracer site for em to even make any, which will still cost $90 a pop. guess till I've got more money than sense I'll stick to factory. dammit cuz I really wanted an aftermarket color in there too.

Here's a picture of the tach with the new bulbs in it. I think honestly that it looks really good with the red bulbs. better by FAR than those crappy clear ones.

How is when riding?

Looks a bit dim.

I have found that red dash lights can be hard to see in the street lights!

I havent had a chance to ride yet, on account of needing a proper size back tire.

I'm toying with the idea of converting a digital setup to run on the EX500, if I can get something that'll work and not suck.

You won't be able to run the digital on the EX500. Its cable driven off the front wheel and the digital's are obvoiusly electic pulse driven!

Sorry... I'll tell you differently..

I heard you can mount a 2005 GSXR 1K dash right in. No modification or anything... direct bolt up and plug in!

That would be interesting to see. I don't think the tac signal would be any near correct.
