PCII, question

My dad is completely computer illiterate. He got a Power Commander II for his harley and asked me to help him get it installed. The mechanical part is simple for him, but as soon as you tell him you have to plug a computer into it, he's done. Anyway...

We get it all hooked up. The bike is running, and I can watch the RPMs and such on the PC interface. Pretty cool.

I start to load a map, and it goes through the motions. However, right at the end, the laptop loses communications with the PCII and the PCII resets. Is this normal? I don't get any confirmation that the map is loaded.

The other thing I noticed is that the LED meter on the PCII that indicates a Rich/Lean mixture is pegged on Lean. Loading the map doesn't change it, twisting the throttle doesn't change it, etc.

Also, I noticed that once communications are lost with the PCII, I have to close the interface on the laptop, and re-open it, to get communications re-established.

So, did I successfully load a map? Is there any way to confirm that I did?

Make certain that you have the latest firmware and software for both the PCII and for your computer's interface.Check the PC website for updates to both.....sounds like you have a software prob.

I don't see firmware upgrades anywhere on their site. I do have the latest software, though.
