Rear Hugger Opinion

Like my name implies, I ride a Yamaha YZF600R. Some how when I bought the bike a few months ago, the rear hugger is bent. Its twisted up pretty bad, but its not touching the tire or anything so its not a huge deal. But within the next week or so Im getting a new rear light with integrated turn signals and making a fender eliminator for it. With the fender out of the way, the twisted rear hugger is gonna be a lot more obvious. I was going to just pull it off, but Im not sure if itd be a big deal to not have the chain guard on there (the hugger and chain guard are connected on my bike). So do you think I should try to find a new hugger so I can keep the chain guard on or should I just pull it off and take the guard with it?
