It's EXTREMELY simple to install. Cost is about $80 (you can get them through speedwerks and they are a site sponsor). It's a complete taillight and it plugs directly into your stock harness. The only thing you have to hook up are the turn signal wires, which was easy as well. Do you know how to remove your undertail section? Once that's removed, there are three more of the little plastic rivets on the taillight assembly. Remove those and then put the new assembly in place. Plug it into your stock harness, splice into the turn signal wires (you may need the resistors if you don't already have LED's for turn signals), then put it all back together. I didn't need to use the resistors because I already have some because I bought flush mount signals for the front.
As for the license plate light wire on my personal eliminator kit, yeah, I'm not thrilled with it being exposed, but I haven't thought of another way to do it yet. If I turn that back bracket around so the wire goes immediately into the fender, then the bulb is touching the plate. I'll come up with something, but I wanted to get rid of that ugly fender immediately, so this is good enough for now. I have a couple ideas, but I just need to get around to searching for the hardware.
Oh, and if you want the black bracket for your bike, just grab some 400 grit sandpaper, a tack rag, some primer and then some black paint. It won't take any time at all and you'll have the black bracket that you want.
Also, your fender eliminator is fine, except for the fact that you need a light to be completely legal. If I were you, I definitely would not spend the $180+ that those guys want for that kit you posted at the top. Get the solo cowl, you already have the fender eliminator.
