ZX-6RR ninja 03 what is a good time on 1/8 mile

i have a ZX-6RR ninja, first bike i have ever had. i have differnet spockets 14/43,K&N,lowered 2ins,muzzy slip on, and i weight is 240. the best time i got in a 1/8 mile is 8.12 but i have alot of trouble leaveing the line hard. i tryed lanching on the street i thought i had it right 9,000rpms. i was wrong i went striat up almost fell off the back, the bad part about friday at the dragstrip (noone was watching). so now im gun shy off the line. next year im getting NOS, quick shifter, power commender. i wanted to turbo it but im haveing a hard time finding turbo kits for the little 600's.
thanks for your time

stick with the 600 and keep practicing... just bring up your rmps little by little and keep triing you launches..... don't buy mods that will make the bike outperform the rider... ride safe and glad to see you are doing your draggin at the track not on backroads like a lot of the squids around here.. something goes wrong at the track you have safety personell out on a back road help can be too far away...

TY, well i feel bad because alot of my friend have riden for years and they are so much better. my friend bought a 03 636 quicker and better then mine at 60 in 2nd gear he'd pop it right up hold it tell the rev and sit it right back down. mine would come up 6in and fell right back down. But i did change out the spockets big big differents. i dont understand it some peolpe say i went the wrong way some say i went the right way. i wanted more take off because i toped my bike out at 172mph. i did it once never have didnt again, been making it faster on take off. the factory spockets are 15/42. i went 14/43 with a convestion to the 525 chain and spockets. i love dragging because curves hate me, i have ditch it 2 times on a left handed curve. speeds at about 30 to 40 mph.
with the lowering i can tell a big differnets in the handing of the bike, the thing i most is the fact when u let off comin up on curve, your body doesnt all side to the front of the bike killing the (nuts).
i like track better because of the lights more even races that way. the big plus is track has no trees, curves do and they hurt..
thanks for your time

No offense... its the rider not the bike!

Don't waste your time on the mods if the rider isn't using the bike to its full ability.

Again.. no offense... but it sounds like you haven't mastered the bike yet for the drag racing. Keep practicing and you'll get better. The only thing those mods are going to do is to help you cover up the skill level or lack of.

Your bike stock should run... what... say... 11's in the 1/4. It is also capable of doing 1 mile wheelies... its just that you can't make it do it.

AGAIN... just my stupid

i take it you have not softened up the suspension for the drag strip??? You will not get good launches with stif suspension.. it hweelies too easy.
Set it ALL the way soft..... that alone will knock a couple tenthes off your 1/4.....

TY all, this is my first bike im still learning i can lanch get on the street but the strip is so sticky plus i dont get to go much. the lanching on street is 8,000-9,000 rpms. but i tryed the same lanching on the track i almost landed flat on my back. yea i have softened up the rear becuase the first time i ditch it was on a backroad with many pots holes. the great state of alabama loves to take a pot hole that is 4ins deep and full it full it and full it. so its 3ins high. my back tire started bouceing and got in the grass i lose it. thank god the road toss me a differnet direction on the barbwire. So i softened it so not all the way so i will try that TY. i ran 12.2 in a 1/4 mile. plus im 240 lbs. im hopeing i can get things off the website so far it has help me. i fond out i when the right way with my spockets. 14/43 stock is 15/42. i say to anyone on my bike one down in the front spocket is nice.
thanks for your time

12.2 is not TOO bad for your weight, in full leathers i was aobut 210 the last time i ran with my Z1000. which is much heavier then the 6 but a bit more power too, power to weight is close.. but the Z is actually slower in the quater... i ran a 11.32 at 1000feet leevation, my friend who was probalby runnign the track weighing 190 on his Zx6R ran it at 11.11 on the same day same track.... So you should be able to pull mid 11's at the least if u run a light jacket and jeans to keep wait low. but yeah softener her all the way out, get tier downs for the front, and the new sprockets should buy u at least another tenth.. id say if u have ehxaust too then a 11.1 hsould be doable.. his bike was as stock as they come and suspension wasnt even touched off the showroom setting

Defiantly lower the bike and tie the front down. Keep practicing and make as few changes as possible. The more you change. The more you have to learn.

i was wanting to going be to the strip this weekend but we dont go. i still have been praticeing lauches but this is street not strip. im just hopeing to learn it. i have a friend with a 6R with same stuff as me but he runs 7.1 in 1/8. but his weight is 150 at 5'11...im a fat azz at 240 6'1.

DIET will cut your ET a half sec if you can be 60 lbs lighter....

but the 60' is gonna predict your 1/4... drop one tenth oiff the 60' and the ET will go down a half sec or so

at the strip u need to let some cars launch first... and run in their tracks after they get some of the track prep crap off.......unless u have a hweelie bar track prep doesnt help 99% of riders on the strip, pick the slickest spot cuz itll be stickier then the street.

i was digging through some old time slips, bene in my wallet almost two years so i wouldnt call em the easiest to read... but got a 1/8th of 7.38 with a 1.97sec 60' time and thats a 11.32 1/4 at 124mph... if only i had a bike with a halfway decent top end id be in the tens... just need that extra 40HP everyother 10 has....oh well.
