Important Question about YZF

Ok. There is a YZF 600 '97 for sale for 900 obo. However, there is NO TITLE.

Now I know the normal response of "stay away, blah blah", but I really don't care. I can use the bike as a practice/stunt bike if worse comes to worse.

But I was told that he knows someone that is selling a newer frame w/ a title. My question is can I use the newer YZF frame and title to get it registered.

If not then thats fine too, but if anyone can just help me with the situation.

thnx

First of all. Stay away from that bike.

Now, if you still want it. Did he have the title and lost it? If so, he can file for a lost title and sell the bike at the same time.
If he never had the title. Get the vin # and call the DMV. Get them to run a check to see if its stolen or has a lean against it. If it comes back clean. You should be fine. If not???????

As for using another title to register the bike. It is illegal. If you get stopped and the numbers on you registration Don't match the numbers on the frame. They will impound the bike till they can verify ownership. Hope its not stolen.

You might be able to put the motor from the no title bike on the good title frame if everything fits. Again you need to check to see if its stolen. The motor has numbers that are supposed to match the frame.

You won't have a choice but to use it for a stunt bike, unless you ride it illegaly on the street.

you can register a rebuilt bike. First, it will need to be inspected to get a salvage title.

i've had a no-title bike before (my buddy quit payments on his bike and sold it to me). it's the yellow hurricane in the middle of my avatar.

do a title search. someone suggested to me that if it's a stolen bike, remove the frame and let the cops find it. you may be able to find that same frame later on at the junk yard. if it's a repo call, others would use it as a track bike.

I don't recommend the use or sale of stolen property. also, I don't recommend exceeding the legal speed limit.
