Question for R1 expert !!!

I have pretty much taken all my fairing off for paint ... all but my gas tank & front nose clip.
1) to remove gas tank do I have to remove the steering damper ?
2) T remove the front clip there is one screw between the 2 headlamps, How the hell do I get to that srcew ? Do I have to remove the headlamps and everything around ?

Mine is an 03 R1, and there is one bolt holding on the tank in the front, in the rear there in a bolt where it pivits.

The front nose is basically held on by the mirrors and the surrounding side fairings.

The 04-07 fairings may be different.

yes the dampener comes off to remove the gas tank

and that screw holds the headlights into the clip, it sholdn't matter, you can remove it when the whole assembly comes off, just baby it and go slow, you'll get it

Its usually very clear how to remove that stuff. There shouldn't be any hidden screws.

Holy crap it was ridiculus...

In order to remove the front clip/ fairing you have to remove the headlamps and speedometer then you have access to the one last screw between the two headlamps which will seperate the fairing from the headlamps.....

I finally got the steering damper off and the tank followed (it must have been installed with lock tite).

Anyways the bike is completely naked and beeing preped for paint.... Yes pics will be posted when I'm done some time next week
