04 R1 Lowering Link

I'm not an R1 rider but i do have some news on lowering links for the 2004 R1. My friend rides an R1 and his rear lowing link has completely snapped in half and couldn't of happened at a better time. We usually go racing every Friday night at the drags and he was running high nines and low 10s, could of happened there but didn't. He went on a 200 mile "Fast Paced Ride" in Austin, TX where they are more of a thrill ride then a sight seeing ride, could of happened there but didn't. The next day he was waiting at a train track and when he went to go take off all of a sudden the whole rear of the bike slammed the ground. Well what im wondering is has this happened to anyone else and if so do you know the brand of lowering links so we can get some information to the company so this dosnt happen again.
