Weeks for Deals Gap in June

It's been a week and since June is winning here is the new poll. Info of rallys on the weekends too...

June looks like it is winning so before the next poll begins here are some dates of the weekends to think about.

June 1st - 3rd: Suzuki GS Southeastern rally
(didn't go up to the gap this weekend)

1st week

June 8th - 10th: SV, FZ1, Stardog Motorcycle Group, Massachusetts Dragon Riders, North Florida Peckerheads all have rallies
(with the number of groups it was surprisingly calm, low numbers in each group)

2nd week

June 15th - 17th: R1/R6 Forums, Contour Enthusiast Group, Kawasaki ZX6E, Latrobe PA Hog Chapter have rallies and it is also the same weekend of the Cherahola Challenge a bicycle race across the skyway and dragon.
(bad bad bad weekend to go to the gap)

3rd week

June 22nd - 24th: MG International, Horizons Unlimited, Honda Hoot, YZF600R.COM, C3 Corvettes, SBN's FZ6 Riders Cooper Mini's may also be this weekend.
(Honda Hoot nuff said, large crowds)

4th week

June 29th - July 1st: Cooper Mini's may be this weekend, Annual Cherokee County Cycles, it is also the weekend before july 4th which will increase crowds.
(don't know much about this weekend, probably be crowded because of july 4th)

the first week in June could be good because all the Memorial Day travellers will be back home...

Did you forget to set the poll to see who voted???

yeah, I liked that week this year. It was real calm. I found out yesterday that August is awful no matter when you go. I made a birtday trip to the gap yesterday and it was packed. I got one good run in all day, the rest of it sucked.

I plan on traveling down the Friday / Saturday before, and home the last sunday, so acutally 10 days... the first week, encompases the Suzuki GS southern Ralley, I don't want to finish my long as ride down in the middle of that. We want the 9th- 17th which is the second week. Weekends on both ends are good for people that can only make a long weekend and not the entire week.

no you don't want to be there for that weekend, pucky.

That is the weekend of the R1/R6 rally. Loads of people out the a**. Tons upon tons of squids that will cross the double yellow at the wrong spots and get you hurt. They start showing during the week. The first week looks like the only good week in june if you want it to be less crowded and have a good time IMO. You will actually have a good time no matter when you go, the roads are just too good to be too pissed off.

This has been the only weekend this summer that someone has died up there.

Yeah, I could care less if there's a R6 rally. The less people the better. Maybe i could plan something here and get some locals to go too. It'll aleviate the costs of rentals and sh*t.

Well, no matter what week we do it we're going to run into traffic. But it doesn't mean we have to actually run the dragon when that ralley is there. That's just another reason to choose a resort / hotel not RIGHT next to it.

Not everyone will feel that way, some people are going to want to run the dragon and skyway. You will encounter the idiots that come for the rallys earlier in the week as well. That is why you want to choose a week in between two good rally weekends.

August definitely sucks for a rally, it was really freakin hot yesterday. It was really crowded for a weekday morning as well. I have seen weekends less crowded than yesterday.

But what I was saying, is that based on the list you posted, there is no week between the good rallies... every week has a good rally on one end, and a group of idiots on the other. So it doesn't really matter when we go. Just pick it.

what's wrong with the GSers? That's not the gixxer crowd.

This is what the GS crowd looks like, they would be tame.

Thought someone said we didn't want to be there that weekend. Anyway, I'm starting Not to care, those to whom it really matters, pick a [email protected] weekend so we can make plans.

That's what this vote is about, I am just saying that would be the best week in june. Who said that weekend wasn't any good?

Memorial day is the weekend before, so we don't have that to worry about. That is prime rally weekend if I ever saw it.

Want me to go scan the other 4-6 threads on this subject and find the one post I think I read?

The point I was trying to make in my last post is that most people are not participating in these polls. When a weekend and location is decided upon, then most of us will make plans. Until then... I'm not wasting anymore time on these threads. You can only talk so long, then it's time to actually DO something.

In the last poll we decided June. Based on the rally schedule, the only resonable week is the first week. WHY do we need another Poll? It's the first week of June. End of discussion.
