problem with 95 Yamaha 600 seca II

I recently bought my first bike. And i changed the oil just as percaution. I took out a little over 2 quarts, but a website said my bike (95 Yamaha 600 seca II) held 2.6 quarts. So i put 2.6 in and ever since the oil light will come on when i first start out riding. Then it will go off after i am cruisin for a minute. But then today it happened when i left work, but also came back on when i got into a town and slowed down the light came back on. It kept goin on and off as i speed up and slowed down. Does any one know what i did wrong? I put motorcycle oil in it from Autozone, and a new filter.
Thanks

Notes:
MR: The Seca II was Yamaha's entry in the 'bargain motorcycles' sector. When it first came out, its competition was the Kawasaki EX500, the Bandit 400, and the GS500E. It had many advantages over all of them. The motor was based on the Diversion 400 motor used elsewhere in the world. It was put in a full size steel tube frame. The Seca was a stylish motorcycle, and performed very well. It was comfortable, simple to work on, and a decent performer. The two valve per cylinder engine was no technological marvel, but it was reliable and easy to live with. The half fairing did a good job of protecting the rider from the elements. The Seca II was a very well rounded package.

Power in 1992 was 49.1bhp, with torque of 35.4ft/lb's. Wet weight was 450lb's.

The oil sensor is very sensitive on the secca 600. Add just a touch more oil and I bet it goes away. When I say a touch I mean like .1L at most .2L.
