Hoyosung

I saw one of those Hoyosung bikes today on Fort Bliss. It didn't look that bad. I've been seeing them in the magazines but was waiting for someone to buy one, never did get to talk to the owner though. It's kinda weird though, many of the military guys around here have bike, especially sportbikes, for ONLY commuting purposes, they don't ride otherwise. It's kid of depressing.

I think I'll go see if I can test ride one this weekend. See how it compares to the SV650S and Ninja650R.

I saw one at the Cycleworld Show in Dallas & it is a nice looking bike. Wanted to sit on it but, there were too many peeps crowding around it.

Motorcycle.com did a comparo of the Hyosung GT650 and the Suzuki SV650S (might have to be a member to read the whole thing). The Hyosung actually did pretty well. IMHO it appears to not have the fit and finish of the Suzuki, but it seems like a great entry level bike.

The crusier they have looks pretty slick.

2 hours away...
How low is "practically giving them away"? I'm sure it'll be worth $20 or whatever in gas to check it out. Just have to see what the insurance people say

I was actually going to test ride one of those a few weeks back but then it poured down. and blah dealer bike in the rain + new rider... didnt wanna risk it. But maybe i'll drop by this weekend. I've heard some pretty good things about them. The 250's go for about 3 gs here in ny and the 650 i think for for 4 and change.

That's cheap for a 650, even if it doesn't have the fit and finish of the SV, saving a couple grand is worth it I think... and from what i've heard, you might be able to get them down a bit more just to "advertise" it.

If I could get one around here for like $4K, I'd probably grab it just to sit there and do stunts with it. I wouldn't feel bad about wasting the money on a great bike (like yamis or hondas) and then dumping it. Just put or build a cage for it and even if it's the 250, still decent for practice. Hey, it may even be a decent track bike to stay in those classes, 250 and 600cc respectively.

maybe, i'll definately try to get a good deal. to be honest, i've never seen anyone riding a hyosung here in nyc. Just pictures of the bikes @ the dealership.

$4k for a 650? Good deal- especially if they let you test ride. I'll def. give my local (30 miles) Hyo dealer a call,

I wonder why.... i've seen practically NO after-market support for these guys.

If they're as close to the SV as this dealer was trying to pitch, every SV piece would bolt right on the GT650. I don't believe it. The GT650S looks decent, and sounds alright with a stock pipe, but it doesn't really have the sex appeal of the Ninja, or the obvious quality of the SV. It is comfortable, even though the seat looks kinda odd. Wish I could have seen an R version (full fairing). Dealer wanted $3900 for the last two brand new '05s. Had a red and a grey.

One thing I noticed was that the throttle seemed really forgiving, even a little unresponsive. Probably just because the engine was cold and it's carbed. But the engine didn't respond with higher revs quite as fast as I thought it should when I opened the throttle. Seemed to gasp when I twisted faster.

Fairings and gauges seem to be qood quality. Actually, the gauges are a little nicer than some of the big 4 bikes. Nice bright green lettering on the speedo and other indicators instead of a dull LCD. But it looked like something I could order off Newark or Digikey and mount. Not too sure about the frame- weird design, even though it's supposedly the same bolt pattern as the SV.

If I was a little more strapped for cash, I'd pick one of these up and not feel bad about thrashing it. $3900 isn't bad at all for a 650, and even used SVs and Ninjas are going for $5500. I just have to put in some more legwork and bum a test ride on some bikes before I buy anything.
