Things to remember when selling your harley

Try to realize that the 90s are over, you don't have to wait a year or more for a new Harley - the showrooms are full of them and they're discounting nowadays.

That means that your 15 year old "glide" that needs rings is NOT worth $12,000.

The "BLUE BOOK" value don't mean **** if nobody wants your ride.

If you bought your bike as an "investment" then you're stupid and It's not anyone's fault but yours and that your expectation for turning a large profit has not panned out.

People looking here and on ebay don't stop looking after the first page, so stop posting your bike every day....we SEE IT ! We just don't want it or are not willing to over pay for it.

YOUR bike ain't really all that "RARE" ! Using the "you don't have a Harley because you cant afford one" makes you sound like a bigger ******* than you really are.

They only started calling them "suicide shifters" AFTER you had a choice.

Find an old mag. to find out what a "chopper" is/was then post accordingly.

Everybody knows the real reason your bike has a "SALVAGE" title, so stop fooling yourself.

"REV-TECH" motors blow up........often ! S&S Motors are better than anything "the motor company" ever made, but they are not "Harleys".

NOBODY is going to pay 20% under MSRP for your old rusty parts...take then to a swap meet or flea market but at a real world price.

The phrase "used to run" or Ran when stored" makes you sound like a friggin retard...They ALL "USED TO RUN" at some point !!!!

"LOUD" is not a measure of performance, ("SORRY but it's just NOT") nor is fringe, saddle bags, windshields, cup holders or matching helmets for that matter.

883s with 1200 kits are always going to be just that, 883s with 1200 KITS.

Yeah I dont' know. I'd liek to see the new Mac OS, and well actually see how macs are doing now-a-days. might be a worthwhile investement w/ me doing more and more photography and image editing.... and well, you can run WOW on a Mac, so I guess it can't be that bad.

And whole hearted w/ Drewpy's rant.

Every harley owner believes in the myth that to have a true harley it needs to fermint in a crate for 4-10 years and be put back together with more chrome and leather then before.

i grew up on harleys, always been around them. hell, i'm even a certified harley technician and i don't understand half the crap they do. definitely a breed apart. i think it has something to do with the whole outlaw image. cowboy on a steel horse syndrome. i dunno. lets people pretend to be living on the edge. i don't think anyone can explain it. it works for the moco. it sells bikes, clothes, coffee cups, dart boards, beef jerky, anything they can put a bar and shield logo on. so i gotta respect em for that. it's very marketble.

but yes the supply has definitely met the demand so prices should be better. and to be honest, how many 40 or 50 year old hondas do ya see still on the raod? gotta be doing something right.

but even after a rebuild, they're still going. not saying a harley that old is still in original condition. if it is rode at all it would be impossible. i'm just saying that they are still around a plenty. (and besides it keeps me in business lol). but damn a 20 yr old harley still costs as much a brand new one. don't make no logical sense. i personally love bikes in general, jus the feeling of being on two wheels is pure bliss no matter what ya ride. and that's something we all can appreciate.

the styling of a harley hasnt really changed over the years. Refined, improved on, is why I think ya see so many older ones on the road still. And they are like hot rods lol. With hondas n the likes I didnt like the looks of most of em until true full fairing bikes came out. And they look huge n gaulky(sp?) compare to newer ones. So that prolly has alot to do with it.

nope styling hasn't changed a bit. but what's funny is look at a sportbike that is 5 years old and it looks dated(some). it's amazing how the two cultures differ. and harleys are the hot rod of motorcycles, just like a big block 69 camaro. heavy, don't handle for crap, loads of torque, and a blast to drive. i personaly like the older bikes. the old shovelhead is probably my favorite( it's what i grew up on) i like the home built bikes by true bikers. not some trailer queen owned by some lawyer or doctor who buys one to impress his friends. i would compare it to a stretched out chromed busa with a $10k paint job and a cbr600 that is held together with zip ties and duct tape but gets rode hard and put up wet. give me the cbr any day.

oh and drewpy, sorry for hijacking yor thread. but i figured you were just venting anyhow.
