impala balko Take them off during the winter and have them ceramic coated... they will come back all nice and chrome like.

777Customs I think you are best to get them sand blasted. Then go to an auto or paint store, there you can find HIGH temp. paint. It is for exhaust, usually has crushed ceramic finley mixed in. It is kinda pricy, but won't flake off your header. (the hottest part of the exhaust)

corteztk1982 this is just the main pipes. I have a yoshi slip on thats the can but im needing to get the pipes cleaned up

True on the temps... that's why I said possibly a high temp engine paint, but to check the temp rating. Some of those matte finish paints with ceramic chips in 'em meant for engines can handle high enough temps I think

If the rust is REALLY bad, you're f&*ked, and will need a new header. If not, I would recommend giving the rusted portions a nice sand before you repaint. It will be worth it in that it will help keep the rust from coming back, and prevent the paint from cracking and chipping.

so my main exhaust pipes are rusty and look crappy and I just took them off because im dopping the engine out to work on it. can i repaint them? do i use rustoleum or a heat paint like radiator paint? any suggestions? im going to walmart tomorrow to get some stuff and i can pick some up there, just need to know what kind and also what color you guys think would be best. i think they were black before and thats fine
