Gas Man It's always good to hear about a good service shop! Glad you're having some luck with that aspect anyway!

bumblebee I would start it and let it warm to 100. Then I would take off...when I got to about 51-5200, it would start making a rattling noise like BB's in a can or someone shaking sheet metal. Around 6K it would go away. after riding for a few minutes, it would go away. If I stopped and let it sit for 30 minutes or so, when I start out again, it would do it again. These are classic CCT symptoms. Well, I took it in and the Service Mgr agreed. So, they replaced the CCT, and the noise didn't go away. So they are working with Honda Tech, trying to find a solution without tearing the engine apart. So, they removed the valve cover and checked the guide that runs from the cam down to the block. Of course it is plastic and they found where it bolts at the bottom was loose and a wear pattern was developing. Now they are replacing the guide and we hope that will solve the problem. If not... the next step is Cam chain. but it is tight and shows no signs of wear. So I am waiting for the results.

On a side note...the people at Southern Powersports, in Thomasville, have been super. Johnny, the Service Mgr, is the typical laid back, southerner and he has answered all questions and has kept me informed where things are. I have to admit, they are really taking care of things.

Not another CCT...

Hey Guys! for those of you riding 04 F4i's and RR's, pay attention to your CCT. We have had threads here about how they are just an annoyance but don't do any harm...WRONG! My CCT started making the rattling noise and I didn't attend to it for about 3 the bee is in the shop and they are replacing the guide that runs from the cam down to the block...My advice is, get on it as soon as you hear the first rattle...
