How's it going everyone? I'm brand new here I subscribe to TMW and DC Sports Bikes but have never been here. Looks like a cool place from what I've seen and read so far. I 'm in search of some good opinions in regards to my next bike. I currently ride an 05 R6 and was dead set on getting the new GSXR-750 until I started reading up on the new 17,500 RL RPM R6. They're estimating HP to be around 140 (also fly by wire throttle!) Cycle World, dealers etc. At only 357lbs dry this bike is going to be so bad a*s. However, the GSXR's are bad as well (tried and proven). I know there are no specs out about the GSXR's yet (I cant find any at least). Does anyone have an opinion as to which way I should go? I want to put a deposit on one of these bikes ASAP to reserve one however I'm not trying to loose $500.00 on the deposit if I decide to go with one over the other. Thanks in advance!

First off :welcome: LoPing :twfrox:

I don't think you can go wrong with either one! I think they are both bad @ss bikes. I am switching from a zuk to a Yam. It will come down to which one feels better and less problems.

If you buy a bike from the same dealer. I believe most would just apply your deposit to the bike you take home.

I'm fortunate to have two dealers close buy that both sale all four Jap brands. I hope you are as fortunate to have the same.

Yeah, that is a tuffy. They are both awesome bikes. The 750 however, will have more low end power and probably better torque numbers due to its size. However, the R6 is always a truely great runner on the track. Many people choose those for race bikes.

The porblem is that they are both such nice bikes... it makes it hard to decide. If all else fails just stay brand loyal!

What do you need reviews for? They are too close to every thing that a average rider would not notice the difference except the obvious power. Pick the one that feels the best to sit on and you like the colors the most. :2cents:

Why are you ditching your 05' out of curiosity?

He wants the new 2006 R6 with all the new restyling, and the new high red line RPM, and wire fly throttle. The new R6 really has some nicely done engineered features.

Hey how's it going itgirl25 I know know Hanover very well one of my real good friends is the manager of RC Theatres up there. I also graduated from Gettysburg High School. The drag strip you are referring to is called 75/80 you were close though... lol... Car and Driver does a lot of their 0-60, 1/4 mile times and skid pad testing there. You'll notice local advertisments for Frederick in the back ground whenever you see C&D TV 1/4 tests.

In any case thanks for the warm welcome. I'm going to put a deposit at Twigg Cycle in Hagerstown because they carry both Suzuki's and the Yamaha's so once both bikes are in I'm going to sit on both of them. I'm considering the R6 because I love the way they handle and you're right the new ones look absolutely bad @ss. Plus it will be different instead of riding around w/ every other GSXR out there. On the flip side the new GSXR's are supposed to be balls to the wall fast and handle like its on rails. Its only two pounds heavier than the new R6,150cc's more, and between $300-$600 more depending on color scheme. This is one of the toughest decisions I've had to make in a long time. (I feel bad saying that considering the misfortune of so many others around the world.) We have it pretty well. But damn this is a tough decision! :help:

i would choose the R6, but thats just my opinion. it really depends on the type of riding you like to do. they are both kiss a** bikes. 750 would be nice for that extra low end torque, however R6s handling....thats a tough decision. i am looking to do more track next season so i personally would choose the R6. also everywhere i look around my area, guys are riding GSXRs

:welcome: Lo Ping.... As you stated in your first post, the Suzuki is tried and proven, plus the extra torque (750 cc)....nuff said. but I'm Suzuki all the way.

:luck: with your choice....either way you can't go wrong.

Good bike, but it still won't keep up with a Yam or Suzuk...

It all depends what your looking for: performance, handling, styling. IMO Triumph's have come a long way in looks and performance, but they're still only 9/10 of a Jap bike(perfomance wise).

I was reading a review that was done on a 675 prototype that was about 98% production model. They took it on Triumphs road course against an R6 and a 636 and the three guys swaped bikes a couple times. They were all saying that the 675 was loosing the 636 and the R6 through the corners because it pulled out of the corners faster than the other two. Each lap the 675 widend the gap due to more torque down low.
