If you clean your own carbs, you will like this mod. The 16 screws holding the float chambers never strip, but the 16 phillips-head screws holding the vacuum chamber covers always do. They strip instantly, and I have had to use vise grips, hacksaw blades and a Dremel tool to get those :cursin: screws out. Spend more time screwing with those screws than cleaning.
I went and bought 16 stainless steel socket-head cap screws for 10 cents each. I could have gotten regular steel for four cents, but I splurged. For the Keihin carbs on my Honda, I needed M4x0.7 by 10 mm long screws. If you want to do the float chamber screws, they need to be 15 mm long. They use a 3mm allen head wrench and work perfect. Here's a before and after.
