The Buell XBRR features a modified XB Thunderstorm 1339cc (103.6mm bore x 79.4mm stroke) air/oil-cooled V-Twin motor rated at 150-hp (measured at the crankshaft). The engine is fed by a dual-downdraft 62mm throttle-body electronic fuel injection system and a ram-air intake system integrated with a new wind-tunnel developed carbon fiber fairing.

The XBRR is the first production Buell since the 1988-89 RR1200 to feature a full fairing. Its lightweight carbon design integrates ducts for cooling of the engine and oil cooler. The fairing was extensively wind tunnel tested to improve aerodynamics and reduce drag.

The XBRR chassis is the revolutionary XB design with fuel-in-the-frame and oil-in-the-swingarm, modified with a billet axle adjustment system and chain-drive to allow gearing changes for different race tracks. Suspension travel is managed by fully adjustable Ohlins units, with 43mm front forks and a remote-reservoir rear shock.

A new ZTL2 (Zero Torsional Load) eight-piston front caliper grabs a standard XB front rotor providing outstanding braking performance, but with less weight than conventional designs. New XBRR six-spoke magnesium wheels weigh 33 percent less than standard XB wheels.

Instruments include tachometer, indicator lamps for shift, power on and low oil pressure. The XBRR features a unique Buell Racing paint scheme.

FX Rules allow 600 cc Inline Fours, 750 CC water cooled twins (Ductai 749's) and Air cooled pushrod twins are allowed up to 1350 cc's.

I fully enjoy watching this class specifically for the diverse bikes. SV650's with a good setup will hold thier own on tight tracks versus the Buell.
I still think some of the best head to head racing was the BMW boxer cup. Whatever happened to those?
Thanks Pickle!

Glad their racing with the big boys (that displacement allowance is considerable). But *choke cough cough gag* $30,000! ouch. Can i get a $20,000 factory cash back incentive? I hope they run through out the series and not just pick a few races to sell bikes.

Well, supposedly their initial run of 50 (and these are track bikes only, not street legal) sold out in a couple hours. Rumour is they will have 4 bikes in FX, with Mike Hale slated to join the previous Buell riders (Higbee and Ciccoto I think?). Another rumor has Jeremy McWilliams leaving BSB to come ride a Buell here in the states.

from my understanding of the bike is based on the xb12r. i didnt go through and compare for myself yet but from posts i read on www.badweatherbikers.com it would seem it is. if i understand it correctly they cut like 35lbs from the weight of the engine. if nothing else i think its a step in the right direction. its just like anything hd is involved in to be over priced though. they are some greedy b*st*rds. the ceo needs his bonus.

Uh oh, looks like it may or may not conform to the FX rules...

It seems to me after reading this article, that they are really just splitting hairs about what the bike is 'Named' as well as what Buell PR decided to write up on it.
The bike is based on the XB12R. Uses the same chassis and base engine. The engine is modified to produce 'race quality' performance.
What bike in FX is not modified?
They are simply taking the base XB12R, modifying it for the track, and selling it as a race bike for a single purpose.. racing.
Don't Honda, Suzuki, Ducatti make factory race bikes that they sell to race teams with the caviat that they are not leagal for street use? I could be wrong on this.

The AMA rules do say that an air cooled 2 valve bike can be modified, and I don't believe they put a limit on it.

Maybe Buell PR could have done a better job with this. Maybe call it an XB12R-R, and instead of saying that it was not built for street use they should have said "This modified version of the XB12R is not legal for street use", or something like that.

Well, if that happens, I can see it as more goodness.

I am sure that Buell had many meetings with the AMA prior to putting this bike out, and most likely got the ok prior to release. So I don't really forsee a problem. That is, unless buells start to run away with wins :dthumb: , then someone might get upity about it. (jk)
