Heard about this on the radio and got the link off the WOS board...

running from the cops at 160mph and tried to take a sharp curve on I-94 and lost it. The rider was thrown so far from the bike that it took the cops nearly 30 minutes to find him! :yikes: And he was dead.

It closed the freeway for hours...

Story here

[email protected]!!! See that's why cops shouldn't chase motorcycles, especially sportbikes, there is no way a cop can catch you, and if they do your're most likely already dead. I 1/2 way blame the cop for stirring this one up.

Are you out of your f-ing mind? 1/2 blame the cops? If he didn't run in the first place he'd be alive, albeit a little lighter in the pockets or spending some time in the clink depending on what he was running from, but alive none the less. don't know how much your life is worth to you, but i'll gladly give up a few hundred bucks to save mine.

Now before i get flamed for this (as i'm sure i will). I'm sure he was a very skilled rider....yada, yada. And I'm definatly sure he will be missed by someone. But it's dangerous enough riding normal on the street, let alone 160+mph trying to outrun the cops. I just hate seeing these kind of stories that further drag our names through the mud

You wont get no :bash:ing from me on this one.
If you not wrong to begin with you wont need to run at all.
The first 1/2 was the riders fault for having to be stopped at all 2nd 1/2 was the riders fault for now having to be chased instead of stopping. Cops have a job to do. I know some states have a max chase speed of 100mph then they have to quit the chase. Just for this kind of danger. Other states say catchem' no matter what or who gets hurt. A runner is more dangerous if he gets away because 1 he wont look back on his actions from each run he does. And 2 If he continuse to get away he will continue to try to run and continue to cause damage and or deaths in each event.

Hey Gas.....some corrections....

#1 - Tragic - only has one g! ;)
And
#2 - There was no "running from the cops" involved at all. He was simply riding too fast for ability and conditions, came to the curve and crashed, but no pursuit or chase involved in this accident. The police were called out after the accident occured.

Wow! funny how one mis-understanding can throw the whole story off. Just one little detail..... :skep:

Tragic - yes, Sympathy - none from me..... It pisses me off to see anybody ride so uncontrollaby (taking a turn at 160 mph :yikes: ) in addition to the stigma that goes along with it. I know a few (family) that have no inhibitions to running, be it bike or car. I'll have no sympathy for them when they crash and end up in a ditch.

Edit - I didn't realize that running wasn't mentioned in the article but I suspect it may have been. Who would purposely take an turn at that rate of speed if they weren't trying to get away from something.

That is quite possibly the stupidest ****ing thing I've ever seen spewed on an internet forum. I'm not even going to attempt to explain to you why, because if you spout off **** like that then you just wouldn't understand.

What the F ever! Almost every cop I know says they won't chase a sport bike. They simply can't catch them.

Well both of you have a stupid opinion then. I care less whether or not a cop decides to chase a motorcycle..but if he does decide to chase one and the dumbass on the bike crashes and dies, then it's the rider's own fault for making a poor choice. Stupidity eventually catches up with everyone, and depending on how stupid your particular decisions are, you might die from them. No one's fault but the motorcyclist as far as I'm concerned. The cop is just doing his job.

I am entitled to my stupid opinion so deal with it.

I agree the cops are only trying to do their job but, It is well known that they will sometimes push a chase to the extreme. If this doesn't happen. Possibly, no one gets hurt.

If your the one running and you screw up. Oh well, I hope you live to tell about it.

Hey now guys...

I'll tell you all a story for bedtime... :yaewn:

I was at a family clam bake (not weed people :nonod: ) and my in-law family is all cops... so there were a bunch of them standing around the margarita/dacerqui machine and I was talking to my cousin about police and speeding on my sportbike. This cop (non family and one of my uncle's, whos their sargent officers) walks up and we ask him if he would TRY to chase a sportbike if it was doing say 120mph... he said and I quote... "only to see if he'll crash being stupid" I laughed and thought it was a bit sick but kinda funny...
